5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Tuesday, April 17

1 Taxes are due today in Massachusetts. All Americans received an extra day with April 15 falling on a Sunday in 2018, but Commonwealth residents got two extra day with Monday being Patriots’ Day, a state holiday in Massachusetts. Taxes should be filed by 11:59 p.m.

 

2. Sofa Cafe is celebrating its 1-year anniversary today with a free cupcake decorating activity at 11 a.m. to noon. Sofa Cafe is located in downtown Framingham on Route 126 across from the Memorial Building.

 

 

3. #SaveMarian is having a meeting today at 7;30 p.m. at the Framingham Elks. All are invited to the meeting, where the group is trying to keep Marian High School open for next year and beyond. Over the weekend, former Boston Mayor and Vatican Ambassador Ray Flynn announced he was supporting the effort.

 

 

 

 

4. CITY of FRAMINGHAM meetings:

  • Framingham Retirement Board is scheduled to meet at 10 a.m. today
  • Framingham City Council is scheduled to meet today at 7 p.m. in the Blumer room of the Memorial Building

 

 

5. According to Mayor’s public calendar on the City of Framingham’s website she is celebrating National Organ Donor Month at 11 a.m. at the Memorial Building. The public calendar does not list any additional details and no press release was issued as of 8:45 a.m. today.

 

 

BONUS: Keep Natick Beautiful is hosting a clean-up Dug Pond this morning from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at the Donahue Boat Landing (across from the Ice Rink on Windsor Avenue for on-the-water clean-up of Dug Pond, Blueberry Island and shorelines. They also will be doing trail work along the Timothy Coolidge Woods Trails.
