BOSTON – Yuki Kawauchi of Japan said he loved the conditions for today’s 122nd Boston Marathon.
He may be one of only a handful who did – but then again he won the men’s division of the Boston race in 2:15.58 minutes.
It was the slowest time since 1976, but then it again he had just about the worst marathon conditions possibly ever. It was 38 degrees to start the race, and he and the other runners faced rain, and easterly winds the entire 26.2 miles.
“I think the conditions were instrumental in pulling off this victory,” he said after winning the race, on television.
