Hoops and Homework, the after school and summer programs located in the highest poverty section of Framingham, was so very fortunate to be picked as their charity by eight Boston Marathon runners.
We recently held a Thank You event at Exhibit A to help them with their fundraising efforts. Our guest of honor was Senator Karen Spilka.
Her kind words about Hoops and Homework was a special treat and was very much appreciated. We are all truly grateful and appreciative to be recognized by such a very important leader. She asks for your support of Hoops and Homework and is hopeful that the Comm. of MA can continue some annual funding of the programs.
This year we were so fortunate to receive $25,000.
Our runners are also fundraising for Hoops and Homework. So far their total is over $43,000 with a goal of $45,000.

It’s also very important to show our runners that we care about them and that the program is so worthwhile and vital. They will have some very good things to think about as they are doing all those lonely training miles in terrible weather and while they are running the 26.2 marathon miles on Monday trying to ignore body pain. It gives them much needed motivation to keep going. A super huge thank you to all eight of them for doing so much for Hoops and Homework. Our runners are Diana Linn, Bree Cunningham, Leslie White Harvey, Priscila Sousa, Joe Kynoch, Mark Nickerson, Megan Bubello and Jeff Beling who are all wishing for good weather – not too hot, not too cold and No rain please.
