FRAMINGHAM – Robert Grant Harding, 88, a resident of Northborough and formerly a longtime resident of Framingham, died suddenly Sunday, April 8, 2018.
He was born on Sept 20, 1929 and raised in Natick, the son of the late Harvey and Ellen (Morrissey) Harding.
He graduated from Natick High School in 1947, and graduated Boston College in 1955 with a B.S. in Economics.
Harding served in the US Navy from 1948-1952 as a flight deck place director aboard the USS Valley Forge, USS Leyte and USS Tarawa. He was a member of the National American Legion and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
After college he worked in sales and marketing for 18 years and later started Professional Floor and Carpet Cleaning business, which he operated successfully for 45 years.
Harding was a former usher and member of the choir at several Catholic parishes.
A devoted member of the Sudbury River Tennis Club of Framingham, he served 15 years on the Board of Directors and captained the tennis travel team for 12 years.
Harding leaves his beloved partner Janet E. Pandolf, his former wife Claire Harding-McGrath and his six children, Kathleen McGrane (husband Bill Wrench), Richard (wife Shelli), Paul (wife) Rosario Alborta), Sheila Buckland (husband Thomas), Maureen Bertrand (John) and Grant (wife Maura Murphy). Also survived by eight cherished grandchildren, Brian Buckland, Jameson McGrane, Jessica Harding, Edward, Bernadette & Keven Harding, and Anna and Evan Bertrand.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11 a.m.at Plymouth Church, 87 Edgell Road in Framingham.
At the family’s request there will be no funeral home visiting hours.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street, Framingham.
