FRAMINGHAM – Nine years ago Rachael L. Rubin, in the middle of a snowstorm, began what is now the largest salon and photo studio on the East Coast, if not America.
The Framingham High graduate, while a student at Hofstra University began doing makeup, hair, and photos on her best friends in their dorm rooms.
She went from the Big Apple back to her hometown of Framingham, and opened Beauty PaRLR and RLR Studios in 2014.
Tuesday, she combined those two businesses, closed her 2,500 square foot business on the third floor of the Saxonville Mills, and the next day launched The PARLR, and 11,000 square foot beauty oasis, combined with a photo studio, on the other end of the Saxonville Mills.
“PARLR is one of the world’s largest and most unique beauty and photo destinations. Our mission is to create, capture and inspire beauty through our four departments of the company: Beauty, Photo, Video and Bridal. We provide high quality, creative, unique services in a positive, beautiful, chic 11,000 square foot space,” said visionary and owner Rubin.
On Saturday, April 7 The PARLR will hold a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offer free services including “mini facials, mini makeup applications, mini manicures/pedicures and mini hair fluffing.” No appointment needed but services are first come and first serve. One free service per customer.
The event is an opportunity for Framingham and MetroWest to experience The PARLR.
“Our hair salon has doubled in size, adding more availability to our very busy schedule and creating more desired appointment times for clients,” said Rubin.
“In addition, we also started an academy for the future generations of hairstylists at PARLR. The academy provides a learning ground for younger stylists and also provides a second tier of pricing for our clientele,” said Rubin. “Appealing to all different types of budgets in hair salon and essentially becoming more accessible to all types of individuals.”
The PARLR also now has a manicure bar and luxurious pedicure room, said Rubin.
“We added a 6-room spa that will offer massage, facials, reiki, lash extensions, and lash lifting,” said Rubin.
But The PARLR is not just a beauty salon.
“At PARLR, we have also built a state of the art photo and video studio, which is complete with a cyclorama infinity wall (generally only found in Boston or NYC),” said Rubin.
The PARLR also offers more than 40 new product lines including Stila, Becca, and Oribe.
“PARLR is one of the most unique destinations to ever be created. Our goal is to make it a fun place to spend a day. Whether you are getting a hair makeover, eyelash extensions, a healing session, a facial to improve your skin … take 10 minutes in our quiet room or come in for a photo shoot with makeup and hair beforehand or you could even do a video for your business, everything we do is worth the trip,” said Rubin.
“PARLR only employs individuals who are passionate about their craft, who love to radiate positivity, and who create exceptional experiences for their clients. We care very much about customer satisfaction and spreading lifting people up. There is no business or space, or team, like in the entire world, and we are staying right here, in the heart of Framingham. That is important to us, the aspect of providing quality to the amazing individuals in metro west. We provide over 45 various jobs in the local community and intend to add more,” said the entrepreneur, still in her 20s.
The space is gorgeous. Come check it out on April 7.
“We tried to meet the old mill feeling, with a new and modern vibe,” said Rubin.
The PARLR is located at 1 Watson Place in the Saxonville Mills. Parking is available there and at the old lumber yard on Saturday.
