Framingham Firefighters Rescue Cat From Apartment Building Fire

FRAMINGHAM _ Framingham firefighters extinguished a basement kitchen fire in an apartment building and rescued a cat, Thursday evening, March 29, said Framingham Fire Chief Joseph Hicks.

Firefighters were called to 9 Weld Street around 6:30 p.m. for the basement apartment kitchen fire, said Chief Hicks.

Firefighters were quick to contained the fire, said Chief Hicks.

Rescue 1 searched and found the family cat, said the Framingham Fire Chief.

The cat will be okay, he said. The family escaped from the apartment.

Everyone will be able to return to the large complex, said Chief Hicks, except for those who live in the apartment, where the fire started.

That unit “sustained heavy damage,” said Chief Hicks.
