Editor’s Note: Dr. Edward Gotgart was one of two recipients of the two first-ever We Are Grateful award by the Framingham High School Foundation at the 26th Annual Salute to Framingham Thursday night. The other honoree was Potter Road Elementary Principal Paula Del Prete The report below is courtesy of the Foundation.
FRAMINGHAM – Edward Gotgart is thought of throughout the district as respected, kind-hearted, courteous, and straight forward. His dedication to his profession and sincere effort to maximize benefits to both our students and taxpayers is unsurpassed.
Gotgart is an amazing and dedicated individual who always displays a positive attitude and the willingness to roll-up his sleeves and jumping in where ever needed to get any job done. He sets a great example for all to follow.
With his guidance and support, every department that he has overseen experienced a level of growth. During his tenure, he oversaw the buildings & grounds, food services, technology, transportation, and business operations departments.
In addition, he stepped into the role of acting superintendent of schools when the district needed him to.
District moves that were initiated were his support and coordination, including the re-opening of the Juniper Hill School and occupancy by the BLOCKS preschool program and the King Elementary School. The relocation of Framingham Public Schools administrative offices from the Maynard Building to Fuller, Juniper, and Walsh, and finally the Perini Building projects that Gotgart supervised and led to fruition.
Without the support and direction from Gotgart, the 50,000-Plus meals the district servces during the Summer Food Services program would not happen. This program has served the children of this community over the past 8 years.
Gotgart has been instrumental to the development of plans for a new Fuller Middle School in coordination with the MSBA process and continues to work with all City officials in an cooperative and collaborative effort in this regard.
He has been an asset to the Framingham Public Schools and to the City of Framingham since the day he started in 2008.
He takes the time to build relationships with community partners, former Town Meeting members, City officials, School Committee members, administrators, teachers, and families.
His enthusiasm for education is contagious.
He sees unlimited possibilities for Framingham and his face lights up when he hears stories about out students’ success and is often heard saying “That is why we are here – it’s about the kids.”
Dr. Ed Gotgart, for all you have done for our students, “We Are Grateful.”
