PHOTO OF THE DAY: Bower and Vallely Honored at 26th Annual Salute to Framingham

FRAMINGHAM – Former Framingham School Committee member and Selectman Michael Bower and Ron Vallely, who has coached Framingham youth for more than 15 years, were both honored at the sold out 26th Annual Salute To Framingham tonight, March 22 at the Framingham Sheraton.

They are now part of a group of 69 individuals who have been honored by the Salute since 1993. The event is the largest fundraiser for the Framingham High School Foundation.

During the event, about 2 dozen high school seniors are recognized for their efforts in and out of school.

Also during the Salute, more than two dozen educators and staff in the Framingham Public Schools are highlighted with You Are Special awards.

This year, the Framingham-based Autism Alliance was awarded the Jim O’Connor Community Service Award.

And a new award was bestowed for the first time tonight at the Salute – the We Are Grateful award.”

That award was presented to retiring Potter Road Principal Paula Del Prete and retiring former interim Superintendent of Schools and Executive Director of Business Operations Ed Gotgart.

Editor’s Note: Framingham Source will have a slideshow and a full report on Friday. As Source did in in 2016 and 2017, we will publish the Your Are Special winners individually between now and the end of school.
