FRAMINGHAM – The National Weather Service tracks snowfall totals during storms.
The weather service uses trained spotters, ham radio operators, media, and emergency management officials to record official snow totals.
In Middlesex County, Billerica recorded the most snow with 25.6 inches at 10:17 p.m. yesterday by an emergency manager.
Dracut was second with 25.5 inches, and Burlington was third with 24.2 inches recorded by a trained spotter at 9:51 p.m.
There is no “official” recorded of snow total for Framingham on NOAA yet as of 7 a.m., but Natick was recorded at 23 inches at 8:48 p.m. by a trained spotter.
There were multiple television reports yesterday of 23.5 inches, but a couple of the TV stations later reported that the recording may have been a “snow drift” recording and not an accurate recording of a snow total.
