Hometown: Framingham

Team Framingham Member: Yes

Is this your first marathon? This will be my fourth Marathon – second Boston Marathon

Is this your first Boston Marathon? 2017 was my first Boston Marathon

Why run Boston? There is a reason everyone wants to run Boston.… Boston Marathon is unlike any other in the world.  The city is electric, the energy indescribable.  It is the oldest marathon in the country and to be apart of that is nothing short of amazing.

Which charity are you raising money for? Why?: I have the extreme privilege of running the Boston Marathon on behalf of the amazing organization Hoops and Homework!  Hoops and homework is a local, non-profit organization that provides support to at-risk kids in the Framingham area.  Everything from food, clothing, academic tutors, athletic coaches, emotional guidance, a safe harbor for our children!

Please consider supporting my marathon journey and the amazing kids I represent here:

What is your goal for the 2017 Boston Marathon? My goal is to have fun!  To savor every moment of the experience and ideally raise at least one more dollar for Hoops and Homework than I did last year.

How did you first get into running? I first started running when we moved to Boston 7 years ago.  I watched the Boston Marathon and was so drawn to the energy I started running myself
Why do you like to run? I like listening to my music and exploring an area, looking at the houses and smiling at the other runners.
Tell me something about your training for the marathon: I feel a little behind for my training this year.  The weather has been tough, but its so nice to have a team to train and commiserate with! I have trained for marathons before, but this has been the BEST experience.  Being apart of a team, having the support of fellow runners pushing me outside of my comfort zone.  I am so grateful.
How do you stay motivated when you don’t want to run? I think about the kids!  I run to set a good example for my children.  To show them what it means to set a goal, to see it through to fruition and whenever possible to help others in need.

What is your favorite pre-running meal? A bagel with peanut butter and banana

What shoes will you wear on Marathon day? Nike Pegasus – bright orange!
Will you wear anything personal or symbolic the day of the 2018 Boston Marathon?  I will wear my lucky hat (pictured below)  I have worn this hat for each of my previous marathons and most of my training runs.
