BURLINGTON – Sophomore Will Trischitta scored in overtime to give the Framingham High boys ice hockey team a 3-2 win over the Mustangs of Medford High, in the opening round of the Cahoon Cup at the Ice Palace in Burlington.
The Flyers will now face Burlington High on Thursday night in the finals, as the host shut out Chelmsford High 5-0 in the late game.
Framingham scored first last night. Nathan Nichols, assisted by Nate James, made it 1-0 Flyers after the first period.
The Flyers took a 2-0 lead in the second period, when Ben Humphreys scored. Assists were credited to PJ Conzo and seniro Ryan Innis.
But by the end of the middle period, the Mustangs had tied the game at 2-2.
No goals were scored in the final period, bringing the game to overtime.
Framingham is now 6-9-6 on the season. Medford High is now 11-5-3.
