Poku, Flyers Relay Finished 5th at Division 1 Track and Field Meet

ROXBURY — Framingham High junior Grace Poku captured fifth place in the dash at the Division 1 track and field meet yesterday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury Crossing.

Poku crossed the finish line in the 55-meter race in 7.43 seconds.

Springfield junior Kyla Hill won the race in 7.14 seconds. Wachusett’s Victoria Steffon was second in 7.17 seconds, with Franklin’s Jessica Kroushl third in 7.36 seconds.

The Flyers relay team of Poku, Saisha Small-Brown, senior Lauren Walker and senior captain Zoie Carter finished fifth in the 4×200 relay in time of 1:48.42 minutes.

Carter’s anchor run, in 26.0 seconds, helped secure what will likely be a wildcard into the all-states meet, said coach Chris Collins.

Andover won the relay in  1:43.84 minutes.

Junior Small-Brown finished in 7th place overall in the 300-meter race. Her time was 42.73 seconds. Wachusett’s Steffon won the race in 40.42 seconds.

Carter finished 9th overall in the 300 meters at 43.14 seconds.

The “top 3 in divisional meets go to all-states, and the next 9 best results beyond that from all divisions,” explained Collins.

The Framingham High girls indoor track & field team finished 19th overall at the Division 1 meet.
