FRAMINGHAM – Jeanette R. (Mahoney) Thomes, 86, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Loretta (Tellier) Mahoney.
She was the wife of the late Clayton W. Thomes for 47 years who died in 2005
Thomes was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marlboro, she was also an active member of St. Stephens Church in Framingham for 56 years.
Thomes faith in Jesus Christ was of the utmost importance to her. It directed her path in life and sustained her for 86 years.
She worked as a secretary in a several different places including the Women’s Reformatory, the Salvation Army, the Head Injury Foundation and the American Heart Association.
Thomes grew up during the Great Depression and was the oldest of 10 children taking on the responsibility of caregiving at a young age. She also loved playing with her 9 other siblings while growing up in Historic Mount Wayte in Framingham.
She loved vacationing with her husband Clayton and family in Biddeford Pool Maine in her early years, and York Beach Maine in her later years. She also loved attending weekly Mass, cooking, gardening, singing and reading a good book.
She will be remembered for her compassion, always having a kind word for all, and truly being an inspiration to everyone.
She is survived by her children, David Thomes and his wife Vicki of Shrewsbury and Linda Norton and her husband Peter of Northborough; grandchildren Derrick Thomes and his wife Julie of Grafton and Matthew Thomes of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her siblings, Anne Brecken of Venice, FL, Mary Lou Rozon of Natick, Barbara McGee of Natick, Kathleen Reed of York, ME, and Norman Mahoney of Grafton.
She was the sister of the late Lorraine McKenzie, James Mahoney, Paul Mahoney, and Michael Mahoney
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her funeral Mass on Monday, February 5, at 10 a.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord St. (Rt. 126), Framingham.
Burial will follow at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham
Visiting hours will be at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham, Saturday, February 3 from 2 to 5 p.m.
