Group Insurance Commission Votes To Restore 3 Health Care Providers

BOSTON  – The Commonwealth’s Group Insurance Commission voted to offer Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Tufts Health Pan and Fallon Community Health as options to its members today, February 1.

The Commission had voted on january 18 to drop several commercial health care carriers, including the three named above.

The board voted today 12-2 to allow those three commercial carriers as options to its members, which including Massachusetts Teachers Association, Framingham Teacher Association members, and Framingham municipal employees.

The vote in January, the Commission said would have saved about $20 millon.

The new vote today will save about $1 million.
