FRAMINGHAM – The Flyers defeated Mt. Alvernia High 7-2 Monday at Loring Arena.
In the first period Captain Jess Despres scores with less than 30 seconds left.
Ten seconds into the second period, captain Ava Lopez scored, assisted by Tess Lawson.
Four minutes later Rachel Marinofsky scored on assist from Kiley Dustin and Jess Despres.
Ten seconds later Tess Lawson scored on an assist from Ava Lopez.
With less than four minutes left in the second period, Erin Rogerson scored an unassisted goal.
This goal was followed by a St. Joseph’s goal on goalie Hailey VanAelstyn.
With left than a minute left in the second Kiley Dustin scored on a pass from Caroline Stacey.
Both teams fought hard in the final period and St. Joseph’s scores with 10 minutes left in the third.
Caroline Stacey scored on a pass from Rachel Marinofsky with 4 minutes left in the period.
The final score of the game was 7-2 Framingham.
Framingham is now 6-7 on the season, under head coach Mitch Mortali.
“We have now doubled our win total from last year,” said Mortali. “The girls have worked so hard and are fully aware of their progress from last year to this year and even the beginning of the year to now, as we enter February.”
The Flyers have a tough game against the Rockets of Needham High at Babson College on Wednesday at 6;40 p.m.
The final home game of the season is Saturday at 4 p.m. at Loring against Wellesley High, one of the top teams in the state, said Mortali. The four seniors on the girls ice hockey team will be honored at that game.
