FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High indoor girls track team lost to Braintree High yesterday, January 25. Braintree won 59-40 at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
The Flyers are now 0-4 this season, under new head coach Ed Crowley.
There were several positives despite the loss.
Junior Leche Small-Brown and Grace Poku finished 1-2 in the 55 dash, and both qualified for the state meet with their times. Small-Brown crossed the finish line first in 7.51 seconds, with Poku in 7.55 seconds.
Senior captain Zoie Carter finished first in the 300 in 43.45 seconds.
The Flyers won the 4×400 relay in 4:26.03 minutes with runners Carter, Poku, Saisha Small-Brown and sophomore Tess Robinson.
Framingham also won the 4×200 relay with Leche Small-Brown, Saisha Small-Brown, freshman Shannon Walker, and junior captain Laura Walkup.
Walkup won the high jump for Framingham, with a leap of 4 feet, 6 inches.
She also finished second in the long jump at 14 feet, 6 inches.
Walker finished second in the high junp at 4-feet, 6 inches.
The Flyers captured second and third place in the hurdles. Freshman Emma Kirkpatrick was second in 11:01 seconds, with freshman Alaina Falone third in 11.49 seconds.
Junior captain Clara Small took third place in the 1,000, with a time of 3:30.35 minutes.
And Robinson finished third in the mile event for Framingham, with a time of 6:07.42 minutes.
