Middlesex Savings Bank Awards $50,000 to Framingham High School Foundation

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High School Foundation has received a $50,000 gift from Middlesex Savings Bank.

The Foundation announced the award today, January 24.

The award to Framingham was part of $1.2 million donated to local Education Foundations by Middlesex Savings Bank.

The support will benefit the more than 2,100 Framingham High School students in activities, arts and athletics with much needed items or travel that enhance and support student participation in extra-curricular activities.

Some items the Foundation has supported recently are championship travel, gym wall pads, wrestling mat sling, Athletic Wellness Center ice machine, refrigerator and microwave, LGBTA literacy materials, Poetry Slam and Writers Conference entrance fees, Robotics equipment, Culinary Club supplies, library materials,
pitching machine for both baseball & softball, transportation to competitions for various clubs and teams, marimba and drum major podium for the marching band.

This grant greatly expands the support the Foundation can provide our high school students, said the Foundation.

Extra-curricular activities allow students to meet other students who have similar interests, expand friendships, hone skills, provide leadership opportunities, and so much more.

We are overwhelmed by Middlesex Savings Bank generosity, said the Foundation.

“Middlesex Savings Bank has great respect for the education foundations in our community,” said Michael McAuliffe, President and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank. “They work hard to support projects and programs that foster learning and creativity. We hope these donations will make their jobs easier this year and are excited to see their existing academic programs flourish or new ones come to life.”

The Foundation was formed by a group of parents to supplement the continuation of FHS extra-curricular activities, arts and athletics, because we firmly believe that extra-curricular activities greatly strengthen high school student’s social, emotional health and academic performance.
