BOSTON – With temperatures expected to be in the high 40s, and possibly reaching 50 degrees, and a forecast of heavy rain, the National Weather Service in Boston has issued a flood watch for MetroWest, including Framingham into Saturday afternoon.
A period of moderate to locally heavy rain is forecasted in the area Friday into Saturday, January 13.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts, are expected during this time.
The combination of melting snow and periods of rain should allow rivers and streams to rise, breaking up the ice, and potentially allowing ice jams to form. Rivers and streams could see sudden rises in vicinity of these ice jams.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
