FRAMINGHAM – Due to the snow storm, the Framingham Homework Center’s essay committee has decided to postpone the due date for its 4th Annual Middle and High School Essay Contest.
The new deadline is January 15 at 5 p.m. at the Homework Center, located at the Main Library, 49 Lexington Street or can be sent to its director Judy Gatlin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year’s theme in honor of the change by Framingham from a Town to a City is “3 Things I’d Like our New Mayor to Do for Framingham.”
In 500 words or less, write three things you’d like our new mayor to do for Framingham. Include why each thing is significant to you and why you think it’s important the mayor supports each idea.
There will be a reception for the essay authors on Monday January 22 at 7 p.m. at the main Framingham Library.
Mayor Spicer will be on hand to announce the winning middle school and high school author and will award each winner a $100 cash prize.
All essays will be displayed so everyone will have the opportunity to read the essays and celebrate the students and their work. Students, families, friends, school and city officials and the press are invited to attend. There will be a dessert buffet for everyone to enjoy, said Gatlin.
