FRAMINGHAM – Mary (Nickerson) Burkis-Ramuno, 92, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Carlyle House in Framingham.
Born on March 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Dexter C. and Anne (Sleeper) Nickerson.
She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Ramuno for 21 years who died in 2011 and to the late Charles J. Burkis for 34 years, a retired Framingham Police Officer who died in 1983.
She was retired from the Framingham Public Schools as a school bus driver, she formally worked at Fenwall and Dennison Mfg. company.
Mary loved to sing, dance and play cards. She was an avid walker, taking her dog Toma with her and in her later years she became a “mall walker”.
She was a member of the Framingham Heart Study.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Chlebda and her husband Ronald of Medway, Carole Burkis-Oelerich and her husband Peter of Framingham; six grandchildren, Kanee, Shannon and Shawn Chlebda, Ryan, Reid and Ross Burkis-Oelerich; brother, Joseph Nickerson and his wife Celeste of Wellesley. She is also survived by her late husband Joseph’s children, Philip Ramuno and his wife Jacqueline of CA, Richard Ramuno of Upton and Paula McSweeney and her husband Peter of Hopkinton, sister-in-law Rachel Ramuno and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brother Howard Nickerson, sister Louise Lockland and sister-in-law Antionette Ramuno.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend her funeral on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. from the Norton Funeral Home in Framingham, followed by her funeral Mass at noon in St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord Street in Framingham.
Burial will be private on a later date.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
