FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Selectmen Tuesday night approved licenses for a vegetarian restaurant to open in the Saxonville section of Framingham.
The owner of the recently closed Green Leaf restaurant on Cochituate Road plans to open at 62 Water Street in Framingham, as as early as next week, but more likely in January 2018.
The restaurant plans to open in the former Art House Grill location. Planned hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Framingham Selectmen unanimously approved a common victuallar license for Green Leaf, which closed its Route 30 location on Halloween.
Art House Grill, which stopped serving dinner in 2016, and closed for good this year, also had an all-alcohol license. Green Leaf did not apply for one of those licenses.
Green Leaf was very popular before its closed.
Co-owner and chef Balaji Shanmugam announced earlier this year on Facebook that “business is good so we’re expanding and moving our location to
accommodate our growth.”
The establishment offered a unique menu featuring soups, salads, and entrees for lunch and dinner.
Salads included a roasted buckwheat and butternut squash, sesame and cilantro rice vermicelli, beet and asparagus, raddicchio and pear, etc
Entrees included a chipotle citrus taco, chimichurri seitan sandwich, beet burger, BBQ Tempeh sandwich, a tofu Reuben, portobelo panini, grilled yucca quesadilla, a roasted root vegetable pizza, and an organic quinoa spaghetti pasta.
Tuesday night was the final Selectmen meeting in Framingham.
