FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High girls basketball team lost their home opener to Milton High tonight, December 15.
The Wildcats defeated Framingham 63-40.
The Flyers are now 0-2 to start the season, under head coach Kristen Fucarile.
The Wildcats opened on a 13-0 run.
“It’s hard to come back from that but these girls battled,” said Fucarile. “We ended the half strong 18-32.”
“The team has heart and they pushed through and made every moment on that court count,” said Fucarile. “We are moving in the right direction and gelling as a team. It will come together for these girls, especially with how hard they work.”
Junior Ryleigh LaChance led the Flyers with 15 points.
Senior captain Julia Gelman had 9 points for Framingham.
Sophomore Vienna Monestime had 7 points for Framingham, before fouling out.
Framingham dedicated the game to WhynotDevin tonight.
The girls wore green Devin’s Army shirts in honor, of Suau, 6, who lost his battle with DIPG in October.
“It was such a great night and even though it didn’t end up with a victory the atmosphere was wonderful,” aid Fucarile. “We had the team wearing green for Devin Suau and our middle school team came to play at half.”
