UPDATED: Flyers Lose Season Opener; Small-Brown Qualifies For State Meet

BOSTON – The Framingham High girls track team lost its season opener to Needham High Thursday afternoon at the Reggis Lewis Track in Boston.

The Rockets defeated the Flyers 72-28.

The Flyers are now 0-1, under new head coach Ed Crowley.

Framingham High junior Leche Small-Brown won the 55-yard dash in 7.51 seconds. Her time qualified her for the state meet.

Small-Brown was also a part of the 4 X 200 relay that captured first place yesterday. Also on the relay was Grace Poku, Zoie Carter and Michelle Hom.

Senior captain Carter won the 300-yard event in 45.55 seconds.

Junior Poku finished second in the 55-yard dash behind Small-Brown. Her time was 7.76 seconds.

Senior captain Hom finished second in the hurdles. Her time was 10.50 seconds.

Junior captain Laura Walkup finished second in the long jump. Her leap was 14-feet, 4-inches.

Junior Illiana Munoz finished second in the shot put. her best throw was 26-feet, 4-inches.

Freshman Shannon Walker finished third in the high jump with a leap of 4-feet, 4-inches.

Next up for the Flyers is a meet next Thursday against the Warriors of Brookline High at the Reggis Lewis Center in Boston.
