Mustangs Defeat Flyers 7-5; Lopez and Parker Score 2 Goals Each

FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High girls ice hockey team lost to Norwood High 7-5 yesterday. The Flyers scored all of their goals in the final period.

The Flyers have scored 11 goals in two games, but are 0-2 to start the season, under head coach Mitch Mortali.

It was a tough first two periods for the Flyers with Norwood scoring four goals towards the end of the first period, to give the Mustangs a 4-0 at the start of the second period.

In the middle period, Norwood came out hard and despite the Flyers efforts two more goals were scored on goalie Hailey Vanaelstyn, who played a hard fought game.

At the end of the second period the score was 6-0 Norwood.

The Flyers came into the period ready to play scoring 5 goals.

Assistant captain Kiley Dustin scored on a pass from Kaylee Hall early in the third.

Two minutes later Georgia Parker scored, assisted by senior captain Ava Lopez and captain Jess Despres.

One minute later, Parker scored another goal on a pass from Hall.

Both teams were in an intense game until Norwood scored again.

The score was now 7-3, but the Flyers did not give up.

Goalie Vanaelstyn was pulled and captain Lopez scored two goals late in the third period, which were both assisted by Parker.

The Flyers played a great game but in the end the final score was 7-5 Norwood.

Lopez has five goals in two games for the Flyers, who will host Milton High at Loring Arena on Saturday at 5 p.m.
