WESTBOROUGH – The Framingham High girls basketball team lost its season opener to Westborough High Wednesday night, December 13.
The Flyers lost 53-42, despite leading most of the game.
“We were tied going into the 4th quarter, but unfortunately we hurt ourselves with many turnovers and the lack of second shot opportunities,” said head coach Kristen Fucarile.
Junior Ryleigh LaChance and sophomore Vienna Monestime each scored a dozen points for the Flyers. Destiny Fausta scored 8 points for Framingham.
“We have to learn from this and move on,” said Fucarile. “We saw some good things but also saw what we need to improve to be competitive in this Bay State League.”
Two years ago, they won just two games. Last year, under Fucarile, in her inaugural season as coach, they won five games.
The Flyers home opener is Friday night against the Wildcats of Milton High, a Bay State opponent. Tip-off is 6:30 at the Framingham High gym.
The Flyers will be wearing green in honor of the late Devin Suau, who died from DIPG in October at age 6.
