2. Framingham Baseball is holding its 14th annual toy drive tonight to benefit Timothy’s Toy Box at the Framingham Elks Lodge on Union Avenue from 6 to 9 p.m. Everyone who attends is asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy for a boy or girl.
3. Massachusetts Senate President Stanley Rosenberg announced yesterday, he would step down, while an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against his husband Bryon Hefner are conducted.
“I believe this is in the best interests of the Senate. I want to ensure that the investigation is fully independent and credible, and that anyone who wishes to come forward will feel confident that there will be no retaliation,” Rosenberg wrote in the letter to his collegues. Rosenberg requested the Senate elect an “Acting President” in his absence.
Yesterday afternoon, the Senate elected Worcester Democrat Harriette Chandler as the new Acting President. The Senate also announced its Ethics Committee would conduct its own investigation into the allegations. The Ethics Committee, which is chaired by Sen. Michael Rodrigues of Westport, plans to convene today at 11:30 a.m. First order of business is to hire an independent investigator.
