FRAMINGHAM – State Champion diver Halia Bower has signed a letter of intent to dive with the University of Alabama in 2018.
The Framingham High senior will compete in the 2017 state championship on Sunday in Worcester.
As a freshman, Bower finished third at the MIAA Division 1 State Championship. As a sophomore, she finished second, but last year she captured the title as a junior. Bower won the 2016 MIAA Division 1 State Diving Championship with 500.70 points. It was the first time she had scored more than 500 points.
She has been a varsity diver for coach Mike Foley at Framingham High all four years.
In 2016, she was named one of the top 100 divers in the country.
The All-American diver is also a member of the Charles River Diving Team this winter.
The University of Alabama, a Division 1 team in the SEC, is presently 2-1 this season. The women’s swim and dive team finished 10th at the 2016 SEC Championships.
