UPDATED: Framingham Firefighter Charged With Armed Bank Robbery

FRAMINGHAM – A Framingham firefighter was arrested and charged with armed bank robbery in Natick.    

The robbery happened at the Citizens Bank branch inside the Stop & Shop at the 9/27 Plaza on Route 9 in Natick yesterday, November 9, just after 11 a.m.

Michael J. Espinosa, 34, of 41 Saint Lo Road in Framingham, was arrested by police last night.  He was charged with armed robbery.   

The Framingham firefighter, was arraigned in Framingham District Court today, November 10.

Judge Martine Carroll ordered the defendant held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing scheduled for November 16. Judge Carroll also ordered the defendant to surrender all firearms to the Framingham Police Department.

On November 9, 2017, at approximately 11:14 a.m. the defendant is alleged to have entered a bank on Worcester Street in Natick wearing sunglasses and a hat, and approached the counter demanding cash from the bank tellers.

The defendant allegedly told the tellers that he was armed with gun.

The tellers then allegedly gave the defendant approximately $1,000 in cash.

The tellers told Police they never saw a gun.

Through surveillance footage, Natick Police allegedly identified the defendant’s motor vehicle. A search warrant executed on the defendant’s home allegedly located clothing that matched those worn during the bank robbery, including the hat and sunglasses.


Town officials confirmed Espinosa is a Framingham firefighter.
