FRAMINGHAM – The Greater Boston Chapter of Gold Star Wives of America held a Joint Fall Meeting with the American Gold Star Mothers of Massachusetts and Rhode Island at the Metro West Regional Transit Authority in Framingham on Saturday, October 28.
The Gold Star Wives and Mothers were joined by Ed Carr, Administrator of the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority, the Secretary of Veterans Services, Francisco Urena, elected officials, a representative of the National Guard, and other non-profit organizations.
Representatives Gentile, Dykema, Walsh and Lewis attended the meeting. All expressed their thanks for the sacrifices made by the wives and mothers attending.
Bertucci’s Restaurant of Framingham provided and served the luncheon.
Lieutenant Colonel Jay Rose provided information to the group for the Medal of Liberty.
This State of Massachusetts Medal is awarded to the next of kin who have died in combat, or as a result of wounds received in action. Surviving family members must apply to the Massachusetts National Guard, Office of the Adjutant General.
Local Veterans service officers can assist with the application. In addition, a representative of the Honor and Remember organization spoke about their program.
Donald Cox presented on his newly expanded Massachusetts Military Support Inc. The original organization, Cape Cod Military Support Inc. lost all their holiday toy donations in a fire last year and as a result of the amount of support they received, they are expanding to cover all of Massachusetts.
