FRAMINGHAM – Elaine R. (Merrill) Speranza, 74, of Framingham, died peacefully after a brief illness, Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Metrowest Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends.
She was married for 44 years to the love of her life, the late Thomas J. Speranza who died in 2008.
Born and raised in Chelmsford, she was the daughter of the late Elwin and Marion (Reedy) Merrill.
She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School.
She worked for many years at Bank of American in the loan department.
Following retirement, she volunteered at area nursing homes giving friendship and comfort to many.
She was active with the American Legion in Ashland.
She is survived by her children, Richard T. Speranza of Uxbridge, Gail L. Pacitto of Bellingham, Karen M. Farrell of Florida and Joseph H. Speranza of Framingham; her 6 cherished grandchildren, Brandon Bissonnette, Vianna and Gina Pacitto, J.R. Farrell, Tia Guivas and Christopher Speranza.
She is also survived by her brother, Bobby Merrill of Chelmsford and the late Kenny, Ronnie and Brian Merrill all with whom she was very close; her friend and caretaker, Judith Black, who selflessly gave Elaine amazing care; many special nieces and nephews and her devoted best friend, her dog Buddy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Thursday, October 19, at 9 a.m. in St. Bridget Church in Framingham.
Burial will follow in the family lot at St. Stephen Cemetery in Framingham.
Visiting hours on Wednesday from 5 – 8 p.m. at Norton Funeral Home in Framingham.
