SLIDESHOW: Framingham Marks 16th Anniversary of Sept. 11

FRAMINGHAM – The Town of Framingham held a remembrance ceremony Monday afternoon to mark the 16th anniversary of Sept. 11.

During the ceremony the names of 17 individuals with ties to Framingham were read by Framingham Fire Chief Joseph Hicks and Framingham Police Chief Ken Ferguson.

Remembered were: Christine Barbuto, Neilie Casey, Tara Shea Creamer, Linda George, Lisa Fenn Gordenstein, Paige Farley-Hackel, Todd Hill, Herb Homer, Robin Kaplan, Barbara Keating, Judy Larocque, Susan Mackay, Laura Lee Morabito, Charlie Murphy, Darin Pontell, Meta Fuller Walker and John J. Wenckus.

Seven of the those 17 victims worked for TJX, and died when the hijacked American Airlines plane crashed into the World Trade Center North Tower at 8:46 a.m.

There is a Living Memorial to those 17 individuals in Cushing Memorial Park, which features a gazebo, benches and 17 flowering trees to honor local victims, each with their own marker.
