FRAMINGHAM – Framingham residents can meet the seven mayoral candidates on Tuesday, August 22 at the Aegean Restaurant’s lounge.
Janine Sistrand, owner of a small events business: A+ Events, LLC,coordinated the event, and the Aegean is donating their lounge.
“It is designed to be a social event to meet the candidates, to provide an opportunity for some interpersonal exchanges with the candidates and their staffers. It is also an opportunity to meet all candidates at once without having a debate, or a formal forum. No speakers. It’s more like a trade show with a meet-and-greet format,” explained Sistrand.
The event is open to the public.
“People can arrive within the states times, meet and greet the politicians and staff, then leave or stay have dinner. No purchase necessary. There will not be free food or drink,” said Sistrand.
“I decided to organize this because I am responding to a general consensus that there are not enough groups, or private citizens offering to corral their fellow residents to meet the candidates. This process is new to Framingham. So anything we do will feel like uncharted waters, I suppose,” said Sistrand.
There are seven candidates for mayor. On July 19, the Town Clerk’s office drew names for how they would appear on the Sept. 26 ballot. The order is:
The two mayoral candidates, who receive the most votes on Sept. 26, will appear on the November 7 ballot.
Voters will only vote for one of the seven candidates on Sept. 26.
On November 7, voters will choose between the top 2 candidates on Sept. 26 to be the first mayor of the City of Framingham.
