The following is an announcement submitted by the candidate, per the Framingham Source election policy. As per the policy, the statement is published below as submitted.
Growing up in Framingham, myself and so many people on this team, received a one of a kind and priceless experience.
Framingham gave us an opportunity to learn from the beginning the importance of community, diversity, fraternity, and inclusion. Instilling in us, as well as so many others in our newly formed city, a sense of family and the great responsibility to promote and protect that family.
It is because of that innate feeling of responsibility that myself and this administration are honored and humbled to formally announce my candidacy for the Mayoral seat of Framingham.
Moving forward, we must fight to protect everything that has always made Framingham the greatest town on Earth.
The place where differences were always celebrated, families were always priority and the badge of “Townie” was always worn proudly.
While simultaneously striving towards re-imagination and innovation, committing to be the difference we wish to see in the world, in order to now solidify our spot as the greatest city on Earth. This will be no easy undertaking.
We have many new “firsts” ahead of us and I don’t believe any one person is fully prepared to understand all the challenges we will face during this transition.
What I do know is that it will take the best of each and everyone us, united and committed, if we are to reach our greatest potential.
Along with that unity, we must be lead by a strong, moral and innovative leader. I am confident that I am that leader.
Moving forward I will work tirelessly to prove to you, my Framingham family, that I am undoubtedly the person for this responsibility.
I know, with deep conviction, that our city holds the potential to be a beacon of change, hope and prosperity to not only the surrounding communities but, the entire world. I will not stop until we reach that potential.
We are Framingham. And we will change the world, starting with our home. Let’s do it together.
With love and appreciation,
Joshua P. Horrigan
