FRAMINGHAM: Catherine T. “Kay” (McCarthy) Crosby, 78, a resident of Framingham for more than 50 years, passed away peacefully Sat. June 24, 2017 surrounded by her loving family after a 3 month battle with cancer.
She was the wife of the late William J. Crosby, Sr., who died in 2004.
Born in Boston, she was the oldest of five children of the late Thomas and Delia (Heavey) McCarthy.
Raised in Roxbury, she married her childhood sweetheart William J. Crosby in 1956 and moved to Framingham in 1963 where they raised their family.
She worked for New England Telephone for over 30 years before retiring in 1997.
She loved to shop and travel and spent many happy days on the beaches of South Dennis and Jensen Beach, Florida.
She is survived by her children: Cathy Crosby Bahrakis and her husband John of Ashland, William J. Crosby, Jr. and his wife Christine (DelPrete) of Natick, Diane M. Crosby of Framingham, and Michael P. Crosby and his wife Julie (Barry) of Plymouth; 4 grandchildren: Joseph W. Crosby of Natick, Michael P. Crosby, Jr., Brendan Crosby and Aiden Crosby, all of Plymouth; a brother: John McCarthy and his wife Marion of Rockland, cousins: Mary McMaster, and Thomas Glennon and his wife Maryann, all of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas McCarthy and two sisters, Margaret and Anna Beers.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday June 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord Street (Route 126) in Framingham.
Burial in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne is private at a later date.
The family suggests memorial donations in lieu of flowers be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at email@example.com.
