UPDATED: 20 Displaced in 3 a.m. Fire in Apartment Complex

FRAMINGHAM – Firefighters carried out a couple of individuals out of a 3 a.m. fire today, June 19, at the Colonial Arms apartment complex on Beaver Park Road.

Framingham firefighters has to rescue a couple of residents who were not able to get out of the fire on their own.

The fire started in the laundry room, and later extended into a storage unit at 3 Beaver Park Road, said Framingham Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Stone.

The fire was quickly contained, said Framingham Fire Chief Joseph Hicks.

Damage was contained to that area, but smoke did fill several apartments, which displaced 15-20 individuals said the deputy fire chief. The American Red Cross is assisting those individuals. They were placed into temporary housing early this morning.

There were eight children displaced, said Chief Hicks.

Two Framingham firefighters suffered minor injuries in the 1-alarm fire, said the deputy fire chief.

The fire caused about $20,000 worth of damage, estimated, Deputy Fire Chief Stone.
