MassDOT: Expect Delays on Route 9 in Wellesley This Summer

WELLESLEY – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is moving forward with the project to conduct resurfacing operations and install new traffic signals at the intersection of Route 9 and Kingsbury Street.

On Monday, June 19, crews and contractors will begin work-related activities that will include pavement grinding operations and installing temporary pavement markings that will enable crews to shift traffic along this roadway.

On Sunday, June 25, crews will then begin installing temporary barrier to establish a temporary work zone that will allow for future construction operations.

These operations will continue throughout the summer months with crews working during the daytime hours to improve this regionally significant roadway and intersection and allow for reliable travel throughout this area.

Long-term lane closures will not be utilized on this project in order to minimize the impact on the traveling public and local communities.

Those traveling throughout the area should be mindful of potential delays, reduce speed, and use caution.

Appropriate signage and messaging will be in place to guide drivers during these operations.
