CHARLTON – Framingham High Class of 2017 graduate Jillian Jones tied for fifth place in the 2017 MIAA Girls Golf State Championship held at Heritage Country Club in Charlton today, June 14.
The Flyers golf team captain shot 82 on the par 72 course from the blue tees, which totaled 5,829 yards, said head coach Will Cook.
As one of the top 12 players in State, Jones once again qualifies for the New England Interscholastic Invitational, that will be held on June 21 at Bretwood Country Club in Keene, New Hampshire.
With her outstanding high school golf resume it’s not surprising that Jones was awarded a scholarship to play on the NCAA Division 2 golf team at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania next year.
Jones has qualified for the MIAA Girls Golf State Championship every year since she was a freshman at Framingham High.
As a freshman she finished 12th in the Sectional qualifier and 30th in the State Championship.
As a sophomore she finished 5th in the Sectional qualifier, 9th in the State Championship, and 6th in the New England Invitational.
As a junior she finished 6th in the qualifier, 13th in the State Championship, and 18th in the New England Invitational.
Now, as a senior this year she finished 6th in the qualifier and tied for 5th in the State Championship on her way to another New England Interscholastic Invitational next week
