Kathleen Flaherty is a caring and passionate educator who strives to meet the needs of all of her students.
She has a genuine passion for teaching and learning. Kathleen is a student centered professional. She starts every day by warmly greeting every student in her class. She has a sincere interest in her students and their families, and partners with families to provide cohesive supports. She is sensitive to their needs and learning styles and takes the time to get to know each and every one of them. She goes above and beyond by providing extra help before school and has had many successes meeting the needs of even those who are most challenging. Her dedication to her students is evident in everything that she does on a daily basis.
Kathleen has made many amazing contributions to Dunning. She was an original promoter of the recycling program, and has served on various committees. She engages in the “Read Across America” program annually, providing a wonderful opportunity for authentic collaboration amongst classroom teachers, students, specialists, and families. Kathleen has hosted student teachers throughout her tenure here in Framingham, always providing a warm and safe learning environment for future educators.
She has been a volunteer for the Mazie Foundation.
Kathleen is truly collaborative in her work with colleagues. She is committed to working with her grade level team, as well as with specialists to provide effective systems of support for students. She is always willing to try a new approach, or look at a situation from a variety of perspectives in order to provide students with the best instructional experiences possible. Her calm demeanor, understanding of individual students and their circumstances, as well as her profound sense of advocacy for every child, are only a few of the reasons why Kathleen Flaherty, You Are Special!
