FRAMINGHAM – The Islamic Society of Framingham is inviting the community to an event on Saturday night, June 10.
“Breaking Fast with Your Muslim Neighbors” will begin at 7 p.m. at Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building.
The Muslim holy period of Ramadan ends at sunset on Saturday, and period is usually celebrated with a variety of sweets and food.
The event is part of an ongoing effort on the part of the Islamic Society to improve understanding of Islam and of Muslim culture, Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin told Selectmen Tuesday night.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. A youth presentation will begin the event at 7 followed by an overview of the significance of Ramadan and Q & A and, ending with a “Breaking Fast.” The event is expected to conclude at 8:30 p.m.
