FRAMINGHAM – Walsh Middle School was nominated for seven MET (Massachusetts Educational Theater) Awards this week, including best overall production for its musical Hello Dolly!
This is the fifth year in a row the Framingham middle school was nominated for that honor.
Walsh received nominations for:
- Best Overall Production
- Best Acting Ensemble
- Best Actor – Ethan Kerr for his role of Horace Vandergelder
- Best Supporting Actress – Maya Puffer for her role of Irene Malloy
- Best Stage Management
- Best Lighting Design & Execution
- Best Props Design & Management
“It is an honor for Framingham to be recognized not only in the individual acting categories but for ensemble, stage management and tech as well,” said Walsh Theatre Director Sheron Doucette. “It speaks to the team effort that goes into bringing a production together. We look forward to the awards on June 24th to celebrate some of the great work being done with educational theatre around the state.”
Walsh Middle School staged Hello Dolly!, with Shannon Walker in the lead role, in December 2016.
The winners will be announced on Saturday, June 24 in Boston.
Walsh won the award for best overall production in 2015 for its musical Shrek.
The Framingham middle school was nominated for best overall production for Once on This Island in 2014 and Once Upon A Mattress in 2013.
