FRAMINGHAM – On Thursday, June 1, Framingham artist Marjorie Anderson will open Jorie Designs Gallery & Gifts on Boston Post Road in Marlborough.
Her new venture is a full gallery and artisan-focused gift shop.
The gallery will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
The opening exhibit at the gallery will feature fellow Anderson’s works, Framingham artist Cathy Gruetzke-Blais, and artists Jeff Poole and Carlos Felipe Zamora. Also Patino Vazquez, of Fireseed Arts, will be showcasing his amazing “revamped guitars, drums and other sculptures,” said Anderson.
In the gift shop, there will be a a variety of hand-made, artisan products. Shoppers will find long-time Fountain Street artist Margie Sisitsky’s ceramics and amazing, semi-precious, sterling jewelry from Deb Perugi, said Anderson. There will also be a rotating selection of work by individual artists and photographers, inside the gift shop, she explained. And of course, Jorie Designs pillows, coasters, and stationary sets will be sold (pictured below are examples.)
Anderson paints interpretive abstract art, inspired by Matisse and Picasso.
Jorie Designs got its start in 2009, when she opened her studio inside the Bancroft Building as part of the Fountain Street Studios.
Recently, Anderson became a member of the newly-founded Framingham Contemporary Artist Group.
She has exhibited at many MetroWest galleries including, Post Road Art Center, Springdale Beer Gallery, and Framed in Time.
And next week, on Friday June 9 there will be a reception with the artists from 6 to 10 p.m.
Jorie Designs Gallery & Gifts is located at 1017 Boston Post Road in Marlborough, on the Sudbury line.
