Flyers Relay Finishes Fourth in Division 1 State Track Meet

LOWELL  – The Framingham High girls outdoor track team’s 4 by 100-meter relay team finished fourth at the Eastern Massachusetts Division 1 state track meet at Cawley Stadium in Lowell on Saturday.

On the relay was sophomore Grace Poku, junior captain Zoie Carter, senior captain Jenny Ribeiro, and sophomore Leche Small-Brown. They finished in 49.86 seconds.

Senior captain Ashley Wilson, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, may join the relay, as the team advances to the state and all-state meet.

Individually,  Small-Brown finished seventh in the 100-meter race at 12.81 seconds. Teammate Poku finished 8th in the finals at 12.87 seconds.

Lexington High senior India Johnson won the race with a personal record 12.27 seconds.

Everyone in the finals ran the race under 13 seconds.


Carter finished second in her heat in the 200-meter, and just missed the finals with a season best time of 26.77 seconds.

Sophomore captain Laura Walkup finished 13th overall in the long jump with a leap of 15-feet 10.75-inches. She finished 17th overall in the triple jump with a leap of 32-feet, 7-inches.

She will compete in the state heptathlon in June, said head coach Chris Collins.
