SLIDESHOW: Cameron Takes Trophy at 4th Annual Middle Schools Spelling Bee

FRAMINGHAM – A team of seventh graders from Cameron Middle School won the Homework Center’s 4th Annual Middle School Spelling Bee Thursday night at the Framingham Public Library.

The team of Lily Rubin, Emma Rothwell, and Martine Schwan won the spelling bee with the word schismatic. This was after more than 12 rounds between the two finals teams, both from Cameron Middle.

Official Judge Christine Visminas and Homework Center coordinator went off list for the final two word in the spelling bee, so a winner could be declared before the library closed. Students who participated in the spelling bee, organized by Gatlin and the youth advisory board of the homework center, were given the same 400-plus word list used in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

Winners Rothwell and Schwan are part of the Homework Center’s youth advisory board.
