Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late Theodore A. & Helen T. (Boukis) Coparan, and the beloved wife of the late John Stella.
Raised and educated in Haverhill, she was a 1947 graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
She started her career just one year later as a registered dietician at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where she met her future husband John.
Together they moved to Framingham and raised their four children.
She was a former member of the Framingham Young Women’s Club. Later on in life, Dorothy volunteered at Framingham Union Hospital, was a member of the Silver Grey’s, and an active member of The Plymouth Church. She enjoyed cooking and playing bridge.
She is survived by her children, Elaine and Elizabeth both of Framingham, and Michael of So. Elgin, IL, her granddaughter, Sierrah, two step sons, John R. of CT, and William of IN, her sister, Anastasia Blount of ME, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband John, Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Theodore.
Family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for her memorial service on Monday, May 22 in The Plymouth Church, 87 Edgell Road, Framingham at 2 p.m.Interment will take place at a later date.
