The following is an announcement submitted by the candidate, per the Framingham Source election policy. As per the policy, the statement is published below as submitted.
I’m happy to announce that I am running for election for the District 2 City Council Seat (Precincts 3 & 5)
As your District Councilor, I plan to work for you in several key areas:
- Protect essential funding for our Public Schools, Public Safety, Public Library and Senior Citizen Services
- Support small businesses in Nobscot and Saxonville so that they can succeed, create jobs and provide services to our neighborhood
- Work with our new Mayor, adjacent District Council members and neighborhood groups to revitalize our neighborhoods and address blight
- Implement new policies and bylaws during the transition from town to city government to ensure Framingham’s new city government is working for us
As your former State Representative (2006-2010), former School Committee member (2003-2006) and former Town Meeting member (2001-2003) I have proven to Framingham that I provide the hard work and commitment our community needs and deserves.
My husband Peter and I and our two sons have lived in our home in Saxonville for 21 years.
As a graduate of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, Mt. Ida College, Framingham State University and Northeastern University School of Law (’17) I have lived in the Metrowest area my whole life.
Framingham is the best place to live, raise a family and grow a business and I want the community to continue to evolve. We have great municipal services, a thriving senior center, two public libraries, a strong school system, fantastic restaurants, entertainment & sports centers; Framingham is a bustling community! At the same time, we also maintain balance by taking the time to relax and celebrate artistic talent, culture and history; important traditions which define our community.
The evolution from town government to a city government structure is going to change the way we do things and we have a lot of work ahead to ensure a smooth transition. I can’t wait to tackle the challenges in front of us and I hope to have the chance to roll up my sleeves and dive into the work!
It would be an honor to serve as District 2 City Councilor and I would be grateful for the opportunity to work with you and for you on issues which strengthen our community.
Thanks for your consideration!
