Man Arrested in Framingham In Connection With Mother’s Day Shooting in Dorchester

FRAMINGHAM – Massachusetts State Police, Framinghm Police, and Boston Police arrested a Boston man in connection with a Mother’s Day shooting in Dorchester in Framingham yesterday, May 18.

Police arrested Rumel Santana, 20, at an apartment on Kendall Street in Framingham around 4 p.m.

Santana, of 41 Gallivan Blvd in Boston, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (gun), unlawful possession of a firearm, unlaw possesison of ammunition, assault with a dangerous weapon, and discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a house.

He was arraigned, and held on $100,000 bail, according to a spokesperson.

According to Boston Police, a woman, who was 8 months pregnant was riding in a vehicle on Mother’s Day on Downer Avenue in Dorchester, when she was shot just after 1 p.m. The woman was treated and released, with non life-threatened injuries.

It is unknownif there is a connection between Santana and the woman is, at this time. It is also unknown, why Santana was in Framingham.
