MARBLEHEAD – The former CEO of Genzyme Henri Termeer has died.
Multiple news reports have the man, who built Genzyme into an industry giant in the biotechnology world, dead at age 71 at his Marblehead home.
Termeer joined Genzyme in 1983, and climbed the ladder to become CEO, a position he held until 2011, when the company was purchased by Sanofi.
Genzyme created drugs to battle Gaucher disease, Pompe disease, Fabry disease, and many other medical conditions during Termeer’s quarter century at Genzyme.
