Ruiz Announces Candidacy For City Councilor District 7

The following is an announcement submitted by the candidate, per the Framingham Source election policy. As per the policy, the statement is published below as submitted.

More than half a century ago, my aunts became one of the first Puerto Ricans to settle in Framingham. My parents, seeking opportunity for their family, followed their lead and arrived in the early 1960s. My husband, Hector, and I chose Framingham because it cherishes diversity.

Today, I proudly announce my candidacy for District 7 City Councilor (Precinct 13 & 14).
Proud mother of five, Joel, Michelle, Dewayne, Daniel and Mark. My two grandchildren, AJ & Nathalya, are the next generation of our family growing up in this wonderful community.   We built our family-owned small business, Ruiz Transportation Services, LLC. Our Along with co-owning our small business, I am a Senior Care Products Account Executive for Fallon Health, where every day I assist seniors with limited financial resources obtain the medical care they need in order to maintain their health and independence.
In our community, I am President of Union Latina de Framingham, serve on The MetroWest Conference for Women Board and am the former Vice-Chair of the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce & Board Member (2008-2017).  I was one of the 2017 Honoree “Women Making History Now” Award from Framingham State University.
Making the transition from town to city will affect all facets of our neighborhoods.
As your councilor, I will bring my unique voice and perspective to the table. It will be my priority to listen to your concerns and represent you and our neighborhood in this new government.
As a small business owner, I believe we need to attract, support and educate entrepreneurs and small businesses on resources available in an effort to revitalize our downtown. As a grandmother, I am committed to working with the school committee and ensuring the best education for the future of Framingham.
As the proud mother of a Iraq War Veteran, I am dedicated to providing our local veterans the access to the care and support they need.
It is with an optimistic vision I look into the future.  We have work to do. I ask for your support in bringing your voice to the new Framingham City Council.
