Burgess Finishes 4th in Boston Athletic Association’s Invitational Mile

BOSTON – Framingham High sophomore Ben Burgess finished fourth at the Boston Athletic Association’s annual invitational mile in Boston yesterday, April 15.

The BAA invites runners from high schools, along the marathon route, to participate in the annual scholastic mile race held the Saturday before Marathon Monday.

The winner of the boys’ race was Benjamin Matejka of Wellesley in 4:28 minutes.

Newton’s Andrew Mah and Gal Fudim finished second and third in 4:29 and 4:37 minutes.

Burgess had a time of 4:47.3 minutes, in finishing fourth.

Framingham High senior Alex Lowry finished in 11th place out of the 16 runners in 5:03 minutes.

In the girls race, Jennifer Ribeiro finished 8th for Framingham in 6:01.8 minutes.

Eluisa Gabriella Mendes finished in 15th place for Framingham in 6:33.5 minutes.

Grace Connolly of Natick won the girls race in 5:04.8 minutes.

The BAA also holds a middle school 1000-meter race.

Competing for Framingham were Mike Carvalho, Ornel Djomo, Ashley Lemus, and Emma Rothwell.

None finished in the top 10.
