Michael Wilson

Hometown: Cincinnati

# of marathons: This will be my second marathon.

# of Boston Marathons: I previously ran Boston in 2015.

Why run Boston?: “Why not? Everyone should run Boston at least once. It’s the best day of the year, the crowds from mile one through 26 are amazing, and crossing that finish line is one of the best experiences you will ever have.”

Which charity are you raising money for? Why?The Callahan Senior Center. The funds are supporting their Continuing Connections program, which assists those dealing with the effects of Alzheimer’s disease on a loved one. It’s a great cause and I am running in the memory of my grandmother Mae Wilson (“Mom-Mom”) and “Uncle” John Frechette.”

Why do you like to run?: “Running really became part of a general lifestyle change for me a few years ago. While the Bruins games, concerts, and trivia nights were certainly fun, I am in a much healthier and lighter place thanks in part to running.”
What is your goal for the 2017 Boston Marathon? “Hoping to break four hours, but ultimately making it to the finish line will be rewarding enough.”
“I have a three year old daughter and two year old son at home, so finding a sufficient block of free time each week was almost as challenging as the actual training,” said Wilson.
“My incredibly hard working and patient wife should also be recognized for all she has sacrificed and her support these last few months,” he said.
